You might be able to claim for a few years back in arrears (assuming that your wife has been caring for the kids for a few years). Check with your Revenue office to see how far back you can go. When our daughter was born in late December, I took great pleasure in claiming the carers allowance for the full year (as I was quite entitled to do)!
