Careers allowance for child

Looks for some advise
I’m working - on 40K PA
Wife is on disability pension so not working.
I claim her tax credits.
Had a child in Dec 2015 and have read online about careers allowance if one of the married couple are caring full time for a child - could we claim for this ? €1100 per year?
Can we claim it for the 2016 year too?

Should I claim or should it be done against my wife on the revenue app ?

The 1100 is the Home Carers tax credit.

I'm not sure if she can receive an IP and you text the HC tax credit.

There is an income threshold of €7,200 with relief slightly above that so if she is getting a payment then may not qualify.

Yes she gets €193 a week so that’s €10,036 so above the income threshold then.
