I decided not to pursue law at university because I do not have any close contacts in the law profession. I have the perception that to become a barrister or a solicitor you need to have contacts. You cannot get an apprenticeship without having contacts in the law world. otherwise you need to get serious high marks in your exams to have any chance.

Am I right in my thinking?

all depends who you speak to.
some say yes some say no. contacts may make it easier but if you have a good law degree with sufficient work experience, its not impossible to find one.

I wouldnt agreee with that at all. I had absolutely no connections in law whatsoever. The only problem that exists is trying to get a job if you have no experience. Yuo need to start somewhere but it can be tough to get in anywhere with no experience. In that case maybe connections and brilliant exam results come in but otherwise if you have the experience to back you up you shouldnt have too much of a problem.
