Career Break

Hi, I've been off on maternity leave and then 6 months sick leave afterwards and my employers (Civil Service) want me to return to work which is not possible at the moment. I'm thinking of taking a career break and I'm just wondering if anyone knows if I would be entitled to sign on for unemployment benefit ?

No you are not entitled to claim unemployment benefit while on career break.

You are not allowed take up another job either.

The only way that you could work would be to set up your own business and I think you can get a career break for three years to do that
