Carbon Monoxide Alarm in handluggage.

We will be renting a few overseas apartments this year and would like to bring a carbon monoxide alarm with us in our carry on hand luggage. Would this be allowed?

They only give a visual display, They wont alarm if there was an escape like the battery operated ones.
OP, could you check to see if they are available to buy wherever you are holidaying?
