Hello,

We have been overseas for two years and are likely to be abroad for a couple more. We will be moving back to Ireland at some point and are hearing horror stories about car insurance for those that have been abroad for an extended period. Has anyone any suggestions as to how to manage this? Would be added to other policies as named drivers help?

Thanks

Upon cancellation of your foreign policy, politely request a letter describing your no claims status betweeen date x & y. Submit this with your policy application in Ireland - worked just fine for me & i pay normal rates here now.

the letter should obviously be in English , headed paper with a signature.

P.S. I was also outside EU.

If you do a web search for something like "coming to Ireland car insurance" you'll find a bunch of information that may be of some use...
