Capital Loss for Non-Resident

Hi everybody, first time poster here so I hope I'm on track re posting guidelines.

I moved to the UK from Ireland 6 months ago and am no longer tax resident in Ireland. Another tale of woe here re banking shares but bought a lot, not worth much now about covers it.

I want to sell my remaining holding in AIB and BOI but I'm worried about the implication for capital losses. I do intend returning to Ireland in the next few years and want to know my position re capital losses should I ever have money to invest again.

If I dispose of my shareholding while not a tax resident how will it affect my capital loss position? If I make capital gains in the future when resident in Ireland again, will I be able to write off these losses against that, or does the fact that I was non-resident when I sold the shares and incurred the losses invalidate me.

I would appreciate any advice,

Brian
