Anyone have experience with this?

The broker was talking in circles on the phone so I was like, you know what?
Let's skip the confusion and let me cancel the policy.

According to HIA a holder is obliged to do so in writing via email or letter (email preferable).

And the provider obliged to issue a refund, provided the cancellation is complete within the cooling off period.

Sound about right?

I have two days left on my cooling off period. By way of email i assume a cancellation can be processed within that time?

Also provided I take out another policy within 13 weeks I preclude the pre-existing condition clause.

Any other pitfalls associated cancelling a policy and starting a new one?

You know what? That is not a good reason for cancelling health insurance!

It is very complicated and hard to understand. The best of us get confused.

Yes as long as within your cooling off period, you can cancel and get a refund.

If you take another policy within 13 weeks, your waiting periods are protected but you are not covered in those 13 weeks.

Its a tricky thing to understand for everyone so as Brendan rightly says, that is not a reason to cancel
