Canadian Dollars

Hi,

I need to transfer a large amount of Euro to my brother in Canada from my bank account to his. How do I do this most efficiently/cheaply (in other words with the lowest commission)? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheapest is to post a Canadian dollar bank draft to him. Shouldn't cost more than €3 - €4. Drawbacks - dependant on post, his bank may not let him draw against it straightaway.

Otherwise an electronic transfer from your euro account to his bank account. Two day value. Commission will probably be 0.75% of the value, up to a maximum of €45 or €50.

The biggest cost will be FX rate margin if you go with a bank to bank transfer.

If the sum is large then use Transfermate.com
