Question,

If you have a succession right to part of an estate, If you decide not to accept the inheritance directly can you decide to pass/gift the right to that inheritance to someone else of your chosing?

i.e.
you do not inherit => no CAT for you
and
you decide who does get what you were entitled to => they get the inheritance and they pay the CAT.

I think the only thing you can do is disclaim an inheritance but then it goes back into the estate and you can't direct who it ultimately goes to. I'm sure there are all sorts of trusts or other tax-efficient mechanisms to give the inheritance along to someone else if you do take it, but that's beyond my knowledge I'm afraid.
