Hi, I'm going for a dental treatment in Northern Ireland next month, it will be over 1,000euro. Just wondering if this would be valid to claim on a Med2 form next year? thx.

The MED2 form requires the dentist's PPSN - I'm not sure if a UK/NI National Insurance number will suffice. On the other hand I was under the impression that tax relief on any qualifying medical/dental expenditure could be claimed no matter where in the world it was incurred.

Certain dental expenses do not qualify for tax relief. See pages 14 to 15 of this guide for more info :

Thanks all who replies, can I ask Madilla - did you need to bring any forms along with you at the time of treatment?

You must get the dentist to fill in the MED2 form in the normal course of events.

My sister sent the Med2 to the dentist in norn iron after the event and they filled it in - no pun intended.
