Can no longer save to memory stick

I have a memory stick, about one year old, which has been in the back of the PC all the time so not being moved around and damaged.

I've noticed that I can no longer save to the stick, although I can still open and use saved documents from the stick.

When I try to save it states "The directory or file cannot be created."

Any ideas why this might be? Thanks

Unfortunately not rmelly, there's loads of space on it as I save very little on it.

Have you ever filled it completely with files and then deleted them?

I ask because some of the fake drives you get on likes of Ebay may look like 4gb or whatever when you plug them in, but do not allow you to store more than a certain amount.

I had a 4gb Kingston that would only hold 512mb, even though it came up as 4gb when plugged in.

Some have a 'memory lock' switch on the side, and it be be turned on, which prevents recording data etc?

I would suggest back ut up ASAP may be on the way out, recently found out you don't realise what you have on them till they die a death.
