Can I Update my will to a new solicitor ?

Thanks. Will get my wife to ring the insurance company and see what they say. I know she was in touch with them when her relative when into the nursing home to update correspondence address.
 
Had my meeting with my solicitor today and asked him how much does he charge for probate ,I don’t have a lot to leave in my will ,the asset is my home and maybe cash if there is any left from pension etc. He said about €4,500 plus vat , I’m age 54
 
An outrageous cost for a simple process. Your Executor can do the probate directly with the Probate Office for zero cost, particularly if you are not leaving a complex estate/will.

Respectfully, you have no idea if it is a simple process - because the OP has not given us enough information for you to be able to make that call.

I very much suspect that those fees are quite reasonable. The absolute floor on a solicitor's fee for administering an estate would be circa €2500+VAT, and it would take very little by way of additional complexity to lift it from there..
