can i reduce years of mortgage?

sorry if this is silly question,but was wondering can i
arrange with bank to pay more each month in order
to shorten term by, lets say, 5 years??
or, as i suspect, is this far too simplistic an idea.
i have tracker mortgage,ptsb.

Read the Key Post on paying a lump sum off your mortgage.

You will find it better to put the money in a savings account where you will earn more interest than you will save by paying off your mortgage
