Can I get TRS as a 1st time buyer

Hi,

My wife and I are looking to buy house. While I've never bought a house my wife previously bought with her sister and claimed the FTB tax relief on this property.

Based on previous enquiries I could qualify for the required mortage on my own without us needing my wife salary. Is there anyway I could purchase as a FTB and get the benefit of the TRS relief ?

if you purchase the property on your own or with your wife named on the mortgage, you will get tax relief at source (TRS) for yourself.
you have to purchase this year though.
if you leave it till next year, you will get nout, unless the gov change their mind again.
