Can employer insist employees pose for photos for website

Hello,

Its over 20 years since the above discussion and with various laws updated since then, I was wondering what the current position is, in relation to:

* an employee being compelled to provide their photo to their employer ?

* what the employer is permitted to use the employees photograph for (to include marketing and promotion related activities) ?

Thank you.

* an employee being compelled to provide their photo to their employer ?

For id card purposes, presumably yes.
Marketing would be another thing entirely, and presumably would need to be addressed in an employment contract if the employer wanted to use it.

I have had tickets for events where in the small print it says I agree to my image appearing in photos of the event.

And what about when you appear at a company event and the pictures are posted on social media. I don't ever recall being asked for my consent in such cases.

I'd have no problem with photos of me taken at a company social event or indeed just a staff picture. But, if I were performing at one of those role-play capers i.e. making an ad-hoc speech in some training situation, I would have objections. Now, if I were offered some money to do so - Sin scéal eile!
