Can a probate valuation be challenged/changed after grant?

Inherited a property from a non family member which will result in a significant tax bill. The valuation seems a bit high based on recent sale prices in the area.

Does the probate valuation have to be used for the tax return or can this be changed to reflect a more realistic value?


Only thing I can think of is to maybe sell the house. At least you'll get the correct valuation then. But I presume you plan on keeping it.
