Buying 'shop floor' furniture

I have been looking around for living room furniture recently and had more or less decided on what I wanted.
The store called me the other day saying they had 'good' news in that they were getting in new stock and were willing to sell me the shop floor models I was looking at. The original price for one piece was €1595, sale price €1495 and 'shop floor model' €1395 and for another piece the original price was €1395, sale price €1295 and as the previous example, €100 reduction for buying show model!! The furniture is in perfect condition however I don't feel this is very good value ie €100 reduction on each sofa.
Has anyone any experience in purchasing shop floor items and if so what would your opinion be as to the % reduction that should be offered.

Offer them 2K for the pair and let them reluctantly get it up to 2.5K.

200 euro off a total of 2890 isn't a good deal, especially if you can show that it needs cleaning or any other "fault"

In case you hadn't noticed this downturn is seriously effecting the Furniture retailers. I would say €2k period. The only place after that is down not up.IMO
 
The situation may be slightly different in England which is where I live.
 
I work in retail (not furniture) but the current discount for ex-display is 15% and if you're willing to haggle, especially if you can point out any faults, you should be able to negotiate even further. Good luck.
 
Thanks for your opinions - I went into the store today with my 'best bargaining' hat on!! They 'eventually' decided to give me an extra €40 (!!!!!) off. Needless to say I declined the offer! I had wanted to give my business to local retailers but obviously they feel that the recession hasn't hit here yet!! I'll be putting up another thread for advice on where to purchase what I want at a competitive price....
