Buying house -Tenants living there-Need Survey

I’ve gone sale agreed on a house. The house is currently being rented out but it will be a family home for me. I’m not sure yet what notice the tenants have been given

Does anyone know what the legal situation is in terms of getting a survey done? I have a surveyor lined up to visit the house but the estate agent has advised that the tenants have to be there or have to at least open the door for the surveyor. I thought they just have to give consent to enter the premises.. Just concerned this is going to delay the process even further.
 
It is on the estate agent to arrange access. Have them contact the surveyor directly.

If you are buying with a mortgage you will also need a valuation done which will require access.
