Buying curtains online

Hi
Just wondering if any of you went ahead and bought from this company. I'm thinking of trying them but its a lot of money if they don't turn out right for me. Would love to know how anyone else got on. Thanks.
 
I didn't think so, got roman blind + curtains for €550. To get the same quality elsewhere you would pay a lot more. I got quoted in the thousands elsewhere!! I guess you get what you pay for if you are looking for cheaper than that.
 
Why not name the place ? It's good for the consumer when they are shopping around to know where is competitive and where is VERY expensive
 
I think most people would know where to buy designer curtains vs. cheap ones. I was looking for bespoke roman blinds and curtains as my windows are not the normal size, and also I didn't like anything the run-of-the-mill fabric shops had to offer. Maybe stick to original post i.e. buying curtains online.

You do? well I for one don't know where to buy designer curtains vs cheap ones as you put it.

All I said was that the website you mentioned is very expensive to buy curtains from.

My quote for the kitchen windows is coming in at over €2000 approx. I admit, there are a lot of windows in that one room, but I'm wondering if the quality of the curtains is worth the expenditure. I love the material I've picked out (prague plum) but the sample I got in the post wasn't much to go on.
Which one did you go for and did you get lining too?
I know it seems like a lot of money for curtains (is in my opinion) but I can't get readymades in the sizes I need.
Thanks for any replies.

The cost of curtains will vary hugly depending on the fabric, finish etc. Have they provided a breakdown of the costs - fabric, lining, making etc. Depending on the pattern repeat and length of your curtains you could have a lot of waste.

I think Pinkie was refering to the difference between readymade curtains and custom made curtains.

It's not quite a case of buying the material and getting them made. The price quoted is for the material (29cm repeat) the lining and the making. I input the measurement on line and my curtains arrive in the post. Sounds simple, huh? I suppose I'm terrified of getting it wrong. It's not like tipping into Dunnes or Heatons and picking up a pair in the sale for €20 which is what I would usually do! Anyway Pinkie123 you are happy with yours and I take it that means that the material is of good quality, well stitched, lining hung correctly, and easy to hang. Were the pleats in place or did you have to pull them in yourself? Last question, honest..:)
 
Hi headache, i got the suede pleated curtains and all you have to do is put in curtain hooks and away you go. I also got the blackout lining as they were for a bedroom. Honestly when the curtains arrived I had no idea they would be so gorgeous and well made - i did take a chance but I thought the price was worth the chance! Just make sure you are happy with your measurements- it really helps if your curtain poles are already up. But its hard to go wrong with measuring curtains - always allow for a little more fabric when closing them - you won't notice any excess when closed. also I quite like curtains that are slightly too long and sit on the floor - this is an interior design tip to make curtains look sumptious & therefore more expensive. I know its a risk but I am delighted with mine!
 
i ordered my kids curtins from jc penny.the ship all over the world and much cheaper.But.check they are sold in pairs.since the u.s $$ is still good the curtins are much cheaper than here in dublin.

If they are making them to order the principle applies as you will be paying for the material they use. I would not also add extra to the measurements as Pinkie advised as they will calculate double the width already and if you are going for something like a French pleat instead of pencil pleat they won't sit well. Having worked in a curtain shop for five years, I don't think the extra length is a good idea either - the fabric can look creased and it won't hang as well. The prefect measurement is 1/2 from the ground but also an inch as some fabric have a stretch that drops over time.
 
Thanks for all the help. Pinkie you've given me confidence to try. Tara - thanks for the advice. They give very specific instructions on the site to account for overlap, etc. And I won't be going to the ground because I have rads in the way.
Anyway - I'll get let you know how I get on and maybe even send a pic to anyone who wants to see the real deal.

I priced the curtains online for my sitting room and thought they were expensive enough. It took ages, but I eventually bought ready mades for the whole house, which look great and are not so expensive that I will have to keep them forever and a day to get value out of them.

I would recommend Harry Corry and Clery's, you need to have ideas on fabrics, etc. first.
