Will a bank give you a mortgage on a house with an uncertified attic conversion?

Solicitor wrote to the bank explaining situation already. Still waiting for an answer. Actually hope it will say no and will make a decision for me. I like the house a lot unfortunately.

Will a bank give you a mortgage on a house with an uncertified attic conversion?

This issue arose with someone close to me recently, an over zealous surveyor made a big deal of a bed being in the attic and told his clients he wouldn't approve inspection, thus making mortgage approval difficult

Reality is the vast majority of attic conversions were never certified and would fail today due to regs being far stricter today compared to where they were at time of conversion

So, when you're insuring the property what are you saying the house is, a 3 bd, a 4 bd, etc? You'll find out some home truths about it being certified or not if there's a fire.
