Would appreciate advice. Ten years ago my husband and I bought a two bed apartment with the view of trading up in a few years. The rest of course is history! We now have two children and had resigned ourselves to staying put. In the past few days the apartment across the hall from us, a larger three bed one, has come up for sale and is on the market for €220k which is also the asking price for two beds like ours.
We would love to go for this apartment for the extra bedroom/space. The thing is the only reason we would be selling our apartment is if we were guaranteed to get the three bed one.
I rang PTSB and told them our situation. We'd have to speak to a financial advisor obviously but he said they might approve a second mortgage and then we sell our apartment if we get the other one but we would then have two mortgages until ours is sold. Yikes!
Do we have any other options? Also mortgage approval can take a long while so I suppose the other apartment could be long sold!
