Buy sterling here or Newry?

Going to UK tomorrow and need to change about €300 into sterling.Just wondering whether to change it in a bank here or a bureau de change in Newry,as I have to pop up there later today.Prob not much of a difference anyhow?

Edit-sorry,should read buy sterling!!
 
What ever you do, make sure you get Bank of England notes. Many places on the 'mainland' don't like the funny money they use up north!
 
I was told that if I use ATM in UK,the bank charge a hefty fee??I'm with Perm TSB so they'll charge a non euro conversion fee for sure
 
This question pops up very frequently - is there no enterprising IT person out there who could set up a website to trawl all the FX outlets in the country and give the best deals by amount.

I'd do it myself if I had enough IT skills but this is hardly rocket science for anyone with a few years IT work under their belt.

I don't know about that. Many people living around the border counties use NI ATMs regularly. I don't hear many complaints about them. That said, stick to regular bank branch ATMs and avoid the expensive third-party ATMs that are found in filling stations and the like.
 
Just used the site hellohello recommended,€300=£262.50.Rang local PTSB branch,€300=£255.So looks like I'll pop into Buttercrane later.I know its only £7 in the difference but better in my pocket than theirs!Using an ATM incurs an extra 3.5% charge so defo wont be using that!
