I been told that commercial building are not subject to inheritance tax .
Is this true and under what circumstances

I'm afraid that you should not rely on any advice given so freely and with so little regard for reality.

In answer to your question : no, not true and not applicable.

business properties relief

business properties relief

This relief relates to the transfer/gifting/inheritance of a business as a whole, not just the commercial property. It reduces the taxable value by 90%, so not totally CAT free.

you are refering to UK taxes.

This is an Irish site.

If you are resident in ireland and inheriting in UK, you need to talk to account/tax advisor .

Do private residental houses rented out in Ireland qualify for this 90% tax free?thanks.
