Builders quote, what should this cost?

I hope his "garanteed" work stands up!!!

What is "Cement ridge tiles and replaced back" mean exactly, is it that he reused the old one!!
Fkn chances, I replaced about 10 of these on my dads house lately and only got a cup of tea!! I will have to have words.

I think that you will be ok, these chancers are well gone at this stage and if he does come back threaten the cops on his, he will soon shift.

People have to be so tight on these, i hope that your parents are not too rattled by this.

Good luck with it.

yep, they just reset the existing tiles. Chancers.

You should at least have gotten biscuits as well, or some cake.

I think it is worth people's while to have a chat with their parents about this sort of thing. With less work out there the dodgy builders will resort to this sort of thing more and more.

The best thing to do if they call to the door is just to ask for a business card and say you'll get back to them once you've rung around for some quotes. There is nothing so urgent that you can't ring around for quotes.

I wouldn't give them another cent until having the work checked out by a relaible trustworthy contractor. If everything is ok, I'd then offer the going rate less money already paid and less the cost of the check-over. The 'quote' that was given to your parents has no prices and is mis-spelt everywhere, €65 each seems fierce expensive to re-seat original ridge tiles - as stated above there have been various programmes on BBC about cowboys scamming older vulnerable people - makes me so angry.

I'm pretty sure we won't be hearing from them again. I offered them the fair price on the phone but they know they have been snared so I imagine they will just leave it as it is. I'll keep you posted.

Watch out in case they were casing the joint - I think that's the expression. They may come back to see what they can get and they now know who lives in the houses and what's valuable etc.
