Can anyone recommend a reputable builder for a sun room extension and a second floor bedroom extesion in the south city area, also what are approx build costs per square foot for extensions? Planning granted for extension and now looking for prices and finding process hard going.Total extension size is 19 metres square.
Any advice pointers greatly appreciatated

I could recommend loads at the mo.A lot of guys books are just about full for a few months while previously you could wait up to two years for a reputable builder. Not sure are we allowed though.

Well what is the procedure for recomending someone?

You can openly recommend any business or service provider so long as you don't have a connection. There are many examples of this on a daily basis on this forum. See the posting guidelines for further clarification.

Three builders I would recommend
Kevin O Rourke.
Peter Ahern
And Eddy Brown.
I don't have numbers off hand but I'm sure they are in the book. I have seen all their work and they are highly recommended.

Hi

We did a job recently on a terraced house in Cork city and were very happy with our builder. He and his team were Polish and they were very prompt in giving us a quotation and turned up every day on time for work. We had no problem either getting the quotation in writing and we also did a contract with them which no other Irish builder we contacted would do. Like you we found it very difficult to get quotations etc and lots of builders came to the house but never contacted us afterwards.

If you wish you can pm me and I will give you my mobile number if you want to give me a text and I can give you details of the work done etc a

Make sure whatever builder you get is insurred. There is a lot of guys out there at the moment who have been caught with little or no insurrance thus claiming on the house insurrance "when an accident" happens in the house. Just be careful and perhaps it may be wise to get quotes from reputable guys who were around before the celtic tiger and who will be aroung in ten yeards time.

I would highly reccomend AKR Construction. Declan Sheehan is the builder. He recently build a house for a friend of mine and attention to detail was unreal. I've also seen an extension they did and yet again i can't fault it. He is based in Ballincolig. He can be contacted on 087 - 2283710. I have no connection with them only being an admirer of there work.

Thanks everyone for replies have had a few builders up and the difference in attitude to job is huge. Will follow leads as posted .Please feel free to p m me with any details of recommended builders.Would not go without a contract and full insurance and penalty clauses. Can't believe the amount of "cowboys" out there touting for business.Eastern European seem to be the way to go.Will be very interested to see difference in quotes when they come in in the next few weeks.

I'm in the process of trying to find a builder to renovate a small house on the south side of the city.

Its incredibly frustrating, some take messages and never get back to you, some arrange a meeting and never show up.

I would have thought in this economic climate fellas would be keen to get some work.

All i want is a current extention to a bungalow type house knocked and a new one built, maybe some roof work if possible. I've tried the yellow pages, i just dont know where to begin!

hi mangos,
I am doing something similar and I wonder would you have a contact number for the Polish Builder.
Thanks
