I am in 1st year of a 3 year degree course, and am in receipt of BTEA. They told me in my local SW office that I will continue to be paid throughout the summer months. However, I was reading on the SW website that recipients who were in receipt of JA prior to their course (as I was), will not be paid BTEA during the summer. In that case, I will probably have to claim JA for the summer. Does anyone know how this works? Will I have to wait weeks for my JA claim to go through? In that case, when should I apply? Also, will my JA claim be subject to a means test? I cohabit, so should I expect to be on a lower rate of payment throughout the summer months?
