Broadband speed increases

Can anyone verify exactly what increase in speed each of the Broadband providers are providing? For example, I have the top Eircom bundle with 2mb broadband, have heard they will be increasing the speed, as will NTL. Anyone got figures regarding speeds & prices?

our Smart residential BB increased from 4Mb to roughly 12Mb about 2 weeks ago. Pretty rad I must say :)

I wont be waiting till June for a 1 meg increase. What is Eirecoms justification for dragging this out?

No mention of that on their site. :confused: Can't even see a Business speed of that range.
Also, do Smart come to your door with the modem and connect it for you? - I'm with imagine and they didn't, just posted a router to me. The best way!

I don't like techies messing with my stuff. ;)
 
What about UPC / NTL are they upping there speeds?

Looking at getting them in soon in my new place.

I only noticed because some sites got faster, then checked in the forum and saw this:

I think D5 was one of the first ones to get upgraded, which is where I am.

Router is posted and you have to set it up. I'm sort of techie but tbh setting it up on a mac was a 5 minutes job.
 
Look everybody,
I dont know why you all seem to be "giving out" about any delay in speed
increases in yout DSL connections. Most of you signed up for a particular
speed and over the years this has been increased totally FOC! Yet I
have to see ONE post where anybody has been grateful for this!!
Years ago I signed up for a 512Kbs ADSL connection and today it is a 2Mbs
soon to go up tp a 3Mbs !! Again totally FOC!!
In Gods name, tell me any other service where something like this has happened??

We also once agreed to pay by the minute for dial up. Times change & technology changes. Why should we be gratfull for being left so far behind in being given access to these changes. Maybe we should still be watching RTE 1 & 2 as well ???
