I plan to switching mortgage soon, however I am on a fixed rate with AIB till next FEB.What would the penalty amount to if I go ahead with switching before next FEB ?

You need to ask them(AIB) for redemption figures - the amount it will cost you to pay off the mortgage. That will show the fixed mortgage break charge and will help you decide if a remortgage is financially worthwhile.
