box room storage

Hi there. Recently, my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I want to start getting his room ready and my first job is to get a wardrobe in there. It's a box room and has that annoying angled bit where the room overhangs the stairs. Does anyone know if i could buy a wardrobe to fit here or will i have to hire a carpenter??? My D.I.Y experience is assembling IKEA stuff..... HELP

Some Ikea freestanding wardrobes are quite short (about 180cm high). And they also do smaller wardrobes as part of their children's range. I was out there recently and saw a new children's line they're doing called Stuva which is beautiful, lots of lovely colours, and modular so you could make up a combination that would work for your room. Plus, you could put your previous Ikea assembly experience to good use

Either put shelves over it, or if it's flat on top you could use it as a changing table (friend of mine did this).

It's probably best to get a carpenter to build something. our box room has a wardrobe over the stairs bit. It's built in. It's a good use of the space which would be wasted.
We also have an Ikea bed and storage buckets in there. Love Ikea.

We got a carpenter to build a changing unit over the stairs piece. The top (changing unit) can be switched when they get older. Got a few quotes from different carpenters. Well impressed with it.
