Hi, I have just returned from holidays to receive a letter from Bord Gais. They have asked me to pay €698.47 on behalf of a customer that has defaulted. This may sound strange, however they seem to think I am a guarantor for this customer, details – name, address and account number were on the letter.
I have no connection with this person but they do live in my locality. Do you know if this letter is legal? They have transferred the debt to my account as I was not here to reply within the 10 days.
I am going to call them tomorrow. This seems to be either an error on their behalf or the customer has forged my account details when installing the Gas at their home.
