Block strength

Building house spec says at least 5n/nm concrete block. A supplier says he will supply 7n/nm block the same price as 5n/nm. If i buy 7n/nm will I have to increase the strength of the window lentils to hold up extra strength block or will ordinary lentils suffice. Is there any advantage in buying the 7n/nm blocks as opposed to to 5n/nm

Increase in loading between 5N & 7N block is negligible, and should not affect selection of the lintel.

Make sure you are using the correct lintel though (load bearing or not).

Incidentally, I'd steer clear of 'lentils' to hold anything up. As a building material, they make a great foodstuff.

Far better with concrete for blockwork!
