I have an elderly dog who is on daily medication for heart, arthritis & epilepsy.

Had some friends travelling to Spain and they were able to buy her medication - prescription free - over there for approximately one-fifth of what the vet here charges.

I got 3 months supply and am delighted with the savings I have made. There are lots of dogs, cats, horses etc on this type of long term medication, so it's worth checking out.

I'm sorry now that I didn't also get them to check out the cost of flea and worming treatment also, but will look into that also next time.

Hi Rois,

Did they need to have a prescription for the meds, as I was told i would need this to buy them online. Not sure if the vet will supply that though.

the heart tablets i need are fortekor are these the ones you got?

No I didn't need any prescription. Just used the ingredient names e.g. furosemide 40 mg, and Vetmedin (pimobendan 5 mg) etc.

Here I need the vet to supply them, but in Spain my friends were able to buy them without prescription. I ended up paying 5 cents for some of the tablets that my local vet charges 40c per tablet.

I don't know about buying online, as mine were bought through vet in Spain.
