Is erecting a stand alone wall with a gap from original party wall and insulating with eg rockwool the best way to insulate against noise in a semi? Noise such as doors banging, drawers closing and music/tv.
Many thanks

If the noise is that bad this would help a lot. Some noise would still be transmitted along the flooring but the wall and cavity would certainly improve it.

We would be planning on working on our living room and main bedroom. The living room has a chimney breast in the middle (which backs onto theirs) and two alcoves either side of it. This is the party wall. Will this be a prob when we would sound proof. Would it waste all our efforts with the other parts of the wall.?

Kingspan gave me the contact details of these guys as they don't do acoustic insulation [broken link removed]

Has anyone any experience of using these products. They look good. Wondering what sort of price it would be per wall.

Got a quote from ATIL for their isostrip range - You don't insulate the chimney. For our house which is 8.6m front to back with two chimneys and a solid wall seperating the dining and sitting rooms there were four walls to be priced - It came at €1100 including VAT

When were in the upstairs bedroom, we can hear them clearly in the kitchen below (doors, drawers closing).
Does that mean the sound is travelling up through the ceiling and across. If we were to insulate the bedroom wall and the 2 main rooms downstairs, will this stop the noise. driving us crazy!

I can't get a website or contact details for Atil to get a quote for their isotrip range. Do you mean purchase the product yourself and fit it diy. Know that a company called Cunas will use this product to soundproof and they can quote 6/7000 euro!
