Health Insurance Best time of year for policy start

What is the best time of year to start a health insurance policy?

myself and my wife have different renewal dates, she is 28-March and mine is 1-Dec and I want to align them to the same date. Apparently its not January cos lots of policies renew then and prices aren't too keen so I'm wondering is 28-March the best time?

There is no perfect time to start a health insurance policy but I would be inclined to say December 1 compared to March 28.
For the simple reason that sometimes there could be a list of price increases announced from March 1, so Dec 1 would avoid these.
It depends on the company, type of plan etc. The health insurance providers are getting more competitive around Dec/Jan months compared to
recent years, as the bulk of customers renew at that time of the year.

How can you align your policy without having any break or waiting period? Just curious
