My daughter earns 20-30 pwk babysitting. She spends half, saves half. But her account is just a child saver in the permanent/tsbnwith some miniscule rate of interest. Is there any better place for her savings?

They've come in for some flak around here recently for reducing their interest rate, but Rabodirect will let a minor open an account, and currently pay 4.3%. As it's an online a/c, she'll need to keep her PTSB a/c open and use it as her nominated account for withdrawing money — mind you, the need to give a couple of working days' notice (for the transfer to go through) might well be seen as a healthy 'discipline'.
