Hey guys, my Mam is with Ulster Bank and as you know they are exiting Ireland next year.

I know there are several banks that offer free bank accounts for seniors.

And there's also the free Money Manager Account by EBS.

Which bank account would you recommend for a senior citizen?

I'm asking as I haven't been with any of the Irish banks for years, so I'm not sure what they're like for customer service / features etc.

Cheers lads

AIB, BOI, and i'm sure there are others that will suit as well. Most offer free banking to seniors.

Does she like to visit her bank branch?

If so, maybe choose the bank with an active branch nearest her.

I am not sure if all the Bank of Ireland branches are active branches. I was in the one in Blackrock during the week and there didn't seem to be any cashier.

There was only one staff member on the floor. A few others in offices but they didn't seem to be interested in the people waiting outside. It might have been their lunch hour.

My Mum and Dad moved their Ulster Bank account to the Post Office. They are very happy with the move and its much closer to them.

Depending on where your Mum lives you can also consider your local credit union, who also offer current accounts
