beneficary issue when theres 2 cu account.

My aunt died and I am a beneficary on her small sum of savings. Ive since discovered that she also had another cu account through work with a mixture of savings and a sum in a high yield account but she had no beneficary nominated on this account. The high yield account does not allow for beneficiaries (which i didnt know) and theres a small amount in her savings, but cu are saying it has to go to probate cause of the combined sum in her account. if they paid me her sum based on being beneficary in other cu, then there woukd be no need for probate (cu account x2 only sum in her estate, no property etc ). Do I have an argument for the sum in work cu to be paid to me as a beneficary named in other cu account?

Who is the executor and what do they say?

Is there a will? If so the money is distributed as per the will. If not it is paid out as per intestacy rules
