Beef Goulash Recipe

Ok so I have googled the hell out of this and looked at so so many recipies for it. They are all diffferent and use different methods. Some have red wine, others don't, some have sour cream others have skimmed milk. The big differnce seems to be that some cook the entire dish in a frying pan and others cook it in a oven dish. Do we have any chefs ( or amature chefs!) on this forum who can give me the best method for cooking this and the most appropriate ingredients. Thanks :)

You need the red wine and the cream. The most important thing is to use very good lean steak and serve it straight away. The idea is that the strips of beef are tender and still pink inside. If you cook it in an oven it's not Goulash, it's a casserole.
 
Would have thought that paprika was essential too - in case any recipe omits this.
