Can anyone recommend a good make of bed (& mattress). There are so many it's hard to know. I want to buy a high quality 3' single bed with a thick mattress which will last a long time. Where are the best places to purchase one ?

I bought mine direct from the RESPA beds factory. Great beds and excellent prices. No affilation.

I have no particular recommendation other than to say if you are buying for a child...I would consider going for the cheaper end of the range, as it is likely you will have to replace it when they get over the bed-wetting, vomiting stage.

I also bought my bed from RESPA beds and it is a fantastic bed. It is by far the most comfortable bed that I have slept in. I am not associated with Respa in any way.

I rang the Respa factory and they have told me they do not sell directly to the public. I wonder does anyone have a contact that I could call to get prices. Thks

The bed frame is less important than the mattress itself... people who make mattresses say that you should replace them every two years, but they would say that wouldn't they?

You could try Luxury Bedding in Ballymount for mattresses as they make them and should be cheaper than a retail shop.. they also sell bed frames themselves but I don't know if they are competative or not.. or whether or not they will offer their best prices to a member of a public...

Disclaimer: I make furniture and buy mattresses the odd time from Luxury Bedding.
