Hi,
I am thinking of becoming self employed, to work part time at my profession. I am currently unemployed and my husband is claiming job seekers allowance(I am dependent of his claim), we also receive rent allowance. I am only able to work between 10-25hrs a wk max as we have a child, i dont expect to earn anymore than €90 profit a wk max. Does anyone know if this is going to effect or how it will effect our present benefits. I ve been told about the BTWA but neither hubby or myself been unemployed long enough to apply for this.
Thanks

Your work may affect your Rent Supplement as some of your earnings will be assessed against you. Have a talk with your CWO who can give you accurate figures based on your projected earnings. If you work more than 29 hours per week, you will not be eligible for any Rent Supplement regardless of earnings as you'll be considered in full time employment.
