Becoming an estate agent

Hello, This is a bit of a vague question, but I'm considering a change in career path and I've always liked the idea of being an estate agent - how does someone go about getting into this field of work? What kind of start off salary would be normal, I understand a lot comes down to commision levels but just an idea would be great.
Thanks

First of all, get rid of all those nasty scruples you may be bothered with ....

First of all, there is a part time valuation night course in the DIT, if you're based in Dublin.

Many of the larger firms offer traineeships which are tough but can also give financial assistance to study. Try contacting the following firms and see what their policy is:

Lisney
Sherry Fitzgerald
Gunne
Hamilton Osbourne King

But I suppose most of all, ask around - find yourself someone who has made the career change you're intending to do and get first hand advice on how to go about it. There is afaik a high burn out rate of Estate Agents, and definitely when I worked with a certain chain, the hours for negotiators were long and the grief was pretty bad.
