Becoming a director of an OMC and welfare?

Would anyone have nay idea what position would a person be in who was in receipt of welfare payments but was interested in becoming a director of an OMC?

Would they become technically self employed at that point even though OMC's are for the most part not for profit and director roles are generally voluntary?

Anyone have any experience of this situation?

No experience of it but a good question.

I suspect it's not a problem. As you say, most directorships are voluntary, unpaid (thankless...) and certainly less than 10 hours per week. If I were about to need welfare, I'd definitely mention it though.
