My wife got me to order a free trial for some face cream on line, what we did not know, is on another page we were ordering a monthly supply of this stuff at $100 a month, I filled in our Debit card detail before discovering this but did not proceed with the transaction and no confirmation was given of sale. 2 transaction where taken from our current account
I reported this to PTSB but had to wait all week end because Open 24 kept me waiting on the phone several times for 30min plus. I was at risk all week end if something more was taken from my account.
After contacting PTSB and several letters they refused to cancel anymore transaction from this company saying `I had made the agreement with the merchant` and they cannot monitor my account, to which I told them that I did not proceed with the transaction.
This is what used to happen with direct debit until the law was changed.
The safest alternative now is to close account and open an account elsewhere.
