Bank Rates on Credit Card machines for shops ?

For a small shop to hire a credit card machine, so they may process access / visa / laser etc payments, what are the commission rates the banks take these days ? I know it depends on turnover, but for a small single shop ? I think it used to vary between the banks a bit. Is monthly hire of the machine still about 18 or 20 euro ?

2.3% sure adds up I suppose, but then again thats how the banks make their money.
