Bank Draft?

If I lodge a bank draft made out to me into my AIB a/cs (Bank of Irl draft)! How long does it take to assess????

Usually would be 3 days but I believe AIB have recently brought in changes that give you same day value for certain lodgements. I lodged a cheque from UB to my AIB a/c and got value on the day.......give them a call & ask. Checked AIB's website but couldn't find any info.

bank drafts are akin to cash so it should be available immediately

But with the amount of forged bank drafts the banks are treating them no better than a cheque with the usual clearing times applying.
