Bank Draft Trouble

Hi,
I got a bank draft from a branch of barcleys plc in germany, i bank with AIB and when i lodged it they told me they need to send it back to the german bank for them to clear it and wire the funds back to my account. They said this could take 6-8 weeks, is this true. I need this money fast and i was orignally told 5 - 10 working days when i lodged it into my account. I really need help with this one.

yes it can take a good while,its up to the other banks clearing dept and how quick they are from their end really.
 
thanks for your help will see if i can make other arrangements with the persn who sent it.
