Bank AA Ratings

Hi,
The only bank who are realy promoting rating is Rabo with AAA rating.
Does anybody know equivalient ratings for Irish banks?
Who decides these?

They are decided by Credit Rating Agencies who themselves have come in for a lot of criticism in recent years. Most of the ratings can be found by searching online.

I agree with CiaranT. I wouldn't pay much attention to credit ratings at all, as I would disagree with a lot of them. In defense of credit rating agencies you will often hear something like "yes, they messed up with mortgage backed securities, but other than that they've done a good job..." Washington Mutual, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, etc. were all AAA rated. Some of their sovereign debt ratings are also laughably optimistic.

I don't think a banks rating can be any higher than it's 'home' country (sorry can't find a ref, but seems to make sense...).
