Bad debt from 2011 still on credit report how to repair

I was going through a bad divorce 2010/2011 and had a credit card with AIB, I had to get MABS involved as i had significant debts and cleared them off all except this credit card there was E1100 owed on this.
Honestly I totally forgot about it as from my bad debt experience i never wanted a credit card or loans again.
Question is how do i even go about repairing this ?.
I have sent off to The Central Credit Agency for a copy of my credit report as a start, I recently applied for a credit card just so i could have it when booking a car on holidays but was refused.
If someone could point me in the right direction i would greatly apricate it thank you
 
Have AIB been in contact with you since 2011 about this outstanding debt? Did you enter into any agreement to clear it? Did you stick to this agreement?

Checking your credit record to see what, if anything, is recorded about this debt is the correct thing to do. Maybe you were declined a credit card recently for some other reason.
 
Thank you for the reply , I have had no contact from AIB and no attempt to clear it, funnily I was actually ok with the payments and up to date until MABS stepped in with a payment plan for all the other stuff and AIB cancelled my card
 
You have to wait until you see your credit report.
It may not be on it.

If you were refused by AIB, it's probably because they have the history.
If you were refused by another bank, it's probably because it's on your credit report.
