Backdate Payments On Rental Income Return.

Hi folks,

Are you allowed backdate Mortgage Protection payments for Rental Properties if you did not claim them in previous years ?
Also, am I allowed backdate Capital allowances payments (purchase of Furniture, Carpets etc) ?
I know you can claim 12.5% over 8 years for these purchases, but if they were not claimed in the first 5 years can you backdate years 1 - 5 and add that figure to year 7 - 8 ?

As far as I know, you would need to amend your tax return for each year to account for the allowances/expenses in each tax year.
